Nothing reveals CMF Phone 1 camera details, CMF Buds Pro 2 and Watch Pro
Nothing has been generating buzz around its upcoming CMF Phone 1 for quite some time. CMF, a sub-brand of Nothing, stands for Color, Material, and Finish, which is reflected in the unique and premium look of all CMF products, even though they are not priced on the higher side. The CMF Phone 1, set to be the first smartphone under this sub-brand, will feature a completely different design from previous Nothing smartphones. Unlike Nothing’s hallmark transparent design and glyph lights, the CMF Phone 1 will have a distinct look, as revealed by the official images showing the front and back of the phone.
The back of the CMF Phone 1 boasts a unique vertical dual camera setup positioned in the top left corner, with a silver paint job that makes the camera module stand out. Notably, the phone features two screws around the camera module, allowing users to replace the back panel. The phone will include a SIM ejector pin that also serves as a screwdriver. The front of the phone features a flat AMOLED display with symmetrical bezels, similar in thickness to the Nothing Phone 1. The display has a hole-punch cutout in the center and is likely made of polycarbonate, akin to the more expensive Nothing Phone 2.
A unique feature of the CMF Phone 1 is a dial on the bottom right corner, previously seen on other CMF products. The purpose of this dial, whether functional or aesthetic, remains to be seen. The design of the CMF Phone 1 is polarizing—eliciting strong reactions, as is typical with Nothing’s designs. However, the brand deserves recognition for its innovative approach.
Regarding specifications, the CMF Phone 1 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, which, while an upgrade over the Dimensity 7200, is more of a slightly enhanced Dimensity 7050. It offers better performance compared to Snapdragon 782G, Dimensity 7050, and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. The phone features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2,000 nits peak brightness, and HDR 10+ support. It includes a 50MP primary camera on the back, a 5,000mAh battery, and an under-display fingerprint scanner. However, reports indicate the phone lacks an ultra-wide camera, with the secondary camera being a depth sensor, and the primary camera does not have OIS, suggesting some cost-cutting measures.
The CMF Phone 1 will be launched in the Indian market for under 20,000 rupees. Although its specifications might not be top-tier, it is expected to deliver one of the best software experiences in its segment. What do you think would be an ideal launch price for the CMF Phone 1? In new updates, Nothing’s teaser campaign for its CMF devices continues. The CMF Phone 1 will feature a 50MP rear camera with a Sony-made sensor and an f/1.8 lens. Advanced algorithms, including Ultra XDR, will enhance photos, making them bright and immersive regardless of lighting conditions. However, there is no mention of OIS, implying it won’t be included. The ongoing assembly series by Nothing showcases more components of the phone, such as the in-display fingerprint sensor, speaker, and lower frame. The finalized build will be revealed in a few days.
Additionally, the CMF Buds Pro 2 TWS earbuds will offer 50dB Hybrid ANC, 5dB more than the original Buds Pro. Indian actress Rashmika Mandanna will be the face of CMF’s ad campaign for these buds. The new earbuds will come in black/grey and blue, featuring dual drivers and ChatGPT integration via Nothing or CMF phones.
The CMF Watch Pro 2 will sport a round dial, unlike its predecessor’s square design, and support over 100 different watch faces. It will have an aluminum case and a digital crown. All these products are set to officially launch next Monday, on July 8.
